RDX Set to tour Japan and Canada

Dancehall’s top duo RDX will be heading to Canada and then Japan for a series of shows as they promote their Everybody Dance album overseas. “It’s going to be tough being away from Jamaica in December and to head into Canada at the height of winter is a challenge, but we have to do it for the music. We also have a couple of dates for Japan as well and more are coming in even as we speak,” Renegade of RDX told one876entertainment.com.   RDX has been ‘locking down’ the RE High School tour with some high-energy performances in recent weeks and they performed at the Ascot High school in the big  grande finale for this year. “It was great, we did Everybody Dance, then Dance and then Rave and we called up a girl to dance and she bussed the place with Bermuda Kid. We closed off with Dancers Boom, a song that the children really love, it connect and resonate with them, dem love it, mi no know why and it still ah go hard after one year,” Renegade said. The duo is working hard on the streets promoting their new singles Rave and Wibble Wobble (Bend Over). “We nah ease up on dem fi the rest of the year,” Renegade vowed.

Mavado Calls Kartel ‘Bad Mind’

Mavado has thrown down the gauntlet to Vybz Kartel with a scathing interview on TVJ’s ER with host Anthony Miller. During the interview, he calls Kartel ‘bad mind’ - a Jamaican colloquialism that suggests envy - and makes references to a recent song that Kartel did that dissed Mavado’s mother.  “Kartel mother is a big woman…mi know say Kartel mother must listen Mavado, ’cause ah me say Overcome, So Special and the whole ah dem sitten de. Mi no even waan she ah listen one day and hear me a sing a song that diss har…Kartel not even five per cent near my level.”

Dem Nuh Want Si Wi Rise Above Dem - Serani & The Seeker

Jamaica’s hottest new Dancehall star Serani, who has his “No Games” banger in heavy daytime rotation on New York’s HOT 97, is continuing to expand his popularity in many markets. He recently hooked up with UK Dancehall artist Dolamite AKA The Seeker, of the famed Suncycle Crew from Harlseden - one of the toughest neighbourhoods in London, on a track for Dolamite’s upcoming album. The Suncycle-produced track - “Disease Heart” - is a melodic shot at haters, a subject Serani has explored on other tracks making it a natural collaboration for him, over an easy-paced soundbed. Dolamite has been in Jamaica for the past 2 weeks and he and Serani shot a video for the track on Wednesday (November 5, 2008) with acclaimed director Rick Elgood at the helm. “Disease Heart” has just been released to radio and has already been getting spins locally and abroad.

Katt Williams Missing -

MediaTakeOut.com just received some CRAZY news - comedian Katt Williams is missing. Apparently yesterday Katt was scheduled to appear on The Conan O’Brien Show and he was a no show. And today, a person close to Katt reached out to MediaTakeOut.com asking if we knew his whereabouts. The individual, who asked to remain anonymous explained, “No one knows where [Katt Williams] is … and we’re worried about him.” Developing….

Michael Jackson hits out at brother Jermaine Jacks on

Michael Jackson is reportedly furious at his brother Jermaine for telling the world he is joining his siblings for a Jackson 5 reunion tour. Last week, Jermaine Jackson claimed Michael, his brothers and sister Janet would record a new album together and tour in 2009 to revive the family’s flagging fortunes. But the Thriller hitmaker shot down the reports, insisting he has “no plans to record or tour with them” because he is busy working on his own LP. Now, according to the Chicago Sun-Times, Michael has chastised Jermaine for getting fans’ hopes up - and is adamant Janet will not be joining their brothers on the road. A source tells the publication: “Both Michael and Janet are not involved in any way and Michael really laid into Jermaine for even raising the possibility.”

LL Cool J and The Ramones induced into Long Island Hall Of Fame

Rap pioneers LL Cool J and Public Enemy and rockers The Ramones have been inducted into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame. The stars were among the artists honoured at a New York ceremony last Thursday. Recalling his childhood in the New York City borough of Queens in Long Island, he told the crowd, “When I was a little kid in North Babylon, on Lakeway Drive, just dreaming of being a part of hip hop - I never dreamed that I would be in a position to actually be looking at a wonderful room full of people who are actually honouring and celebrating the art that I created.” And Public Enemy’s Chuck D made note of the artists from differing genres of music being honoured alongside the hip-hop acts. He said, “That this music can sit side-by-side with other great offerings of music is a true pleasure… Music is a universal language, and Long Island you are number one.” Other inductees included composer Marvin Hamlisch, rockers Blue Oyster Cult, doo-wop group The Tokens, and folk singer Jean Ritchie.
