Louie Rankin Arrested For Possession of an Illegal Firearm

Since the release of Foxy Brown’s new single Rikers Island feat. Jamaican actor Louie ‘Ox’ Rankin, everyone been asking if Louie will in fact end up at Rikers Island (prison).   It’s so unfortunate that the Platinum Camp signed actor Louie Rankin from the movie Belly and Shottas got arrested on the same day after he had just finished the studio session with Foxy Brown for the single Rikers Island.  According to reports, NYPD detectives stopped Ox’s SUV and during the search of the vehicle, a firearm was found.  In the intro Ox who also known to many as Teddy Bruk-Shut in the movie Shottas chanted, “Mr. Commissioner free Foxy Brown or less a gun shot through Brooklyn, a gunshot in a Bronx, a gunshot a Manhattan, a gunshot a New York and every weh, free har right now or else come I am the original Bumbocl**t Jamaican don dadda.”

| Kartel Wishes Aidonia well if he wants to leave the Empire

Vybz Kartel a.k.a Addi the Teacha expressed surprise when he was told that Aidonia had left the Portmore Empire.  “That is news to me, I haven’t spoken to the DJ in three weeks, and if that is the case, every man is his own big man and entitled to make his own decisions and I wish him all the best in his future endeavours,” Kartel told a one876entertainment reporter this morning.  Rumours that there is some tension between Kartel and Aidonia have been circulating around the Internet for the last two weeks. However, both parties have downplayed the rift as nothing more than ‘media chatter’. Sources close to the Empire camp believe that Aidonia is jealous of the success of the youngbloods, Jahvinchi and Blak Ryno.  “Aidonia has his own thing anyway, his thing is J.O.P and ah long time mi not even see him come up ah the studio, so we know say him ah do him own ting,” one source said.

My girlfriends dem call me from the Bronx about two weeks ago and tell me say dem go a dance with Serani and Bugle and Aidonia. And dem shock when Aidonia go pon the mike and start say a bagga tings about the Empire. First, him say that the leader of the Empire is a devil, (everybody know dat already, him say it himself) and that the yute round him a fool and some set a clown. Him say dem anno real singer, one of them sound like a robot, the one name Jahvinchi and that he is no longer in the Empire. Mi girlfriend say she hear it wid her owna ears dem and she was surprised when she read The Star online and realize say him ah say something else. Wah really a gwaan?

NINJA AND BOUNTY SHAKE HANDS IN LONDON

Mi love fi see the unity inna the business among the older deejays dem. Mi hear say Bounty and Ninja hold a reasoning inna London and work out dem differences like some real man. Dem do a radio interview together and shake hands afterwards and den dem perform together at the Stratford Rex, Bounty call out Ninja and dem buss the place together. Ninja even do two a Bounty tune dem, and dem do some conscious songs and it just did nice. We love that, mi haffi big dem up fi that straight.

Toddler Holds #1 for three weeks with Bruk Don

Down Sound Recording artiste Harry Toddler has held the number one position with More Money (Bruk Don) for three straight weeks  on the Jamaica Music Countdown charts, a phenomenal achievement in an ultra-competitive year for dancehall.   “I am just grateful to my fans for their support this year. My career is reaching a turning point and I am looking forward to traveling to the US next year to do a couple of performances. I also have a couple of new projects for Down Sound Records in 2009 that are going to rock the world,” he said. “There is still a lot of interest in Don’t Run In and it still gets play on HOT 97, so that is encouraging news for the future.”  The song is also number 4 on the Stampede Street Vibes chart and peaked in the top five of the RE TV dancehall charts.  Harry Toddler scored his first number one single in seven years with Don’t Run In that appears on the Truck Back Records imprint. He has performed in The Bahamas, Uganda and Trinidad in the last couple of months. He is expected to perform at this year Sting 25th anniversary, and to perform at Teensplash.

Kartel, I-Wayne for 08 March Out

The community of Crofts Hill in northern Clarendon is bracing for the arrival of Vybz Kartel and the Portmore Empire on Christmas Day for the ‘08 March Out show.  “The anticipation is high for the event, the people here are cutting off Kartel’s picture off the posters and putting it in their homes, it’s incredible,” producer Sonny Spoon, one of the organizers of the event, told one876.  This is the second year of the event, following up on last year’s outstanding presentation that included names like Capleton, I Wayne, Tarrus Riley and Fantan Mojah.   The event is the brainchild on Loyal Soldiers head Patrick ‘Zed’ Henry who grew up in the Crofts Hill.  “There used to be a street dance in the community for 15 years and then that stopped, so we came up with the idea to have a stage show instead, and bring the artistes to Crofts Hill, and based on the buzz, it is going to be mad,” Sonny Spoon said.  D’Angel has been added to the lineup as well. Tad’s International is the title sponsor of the event and there will be lots of CD giveaways.  Tickets will go on sale on the day of the event and will cost $800 up to 10 p.m and $1,000 after that.  The emcees are Sample Man and Beetle Bailey. Other notable names include Ballaz International and Audio Force from Crofts Hill. Guest selectors will be Ricky Trooper, DJ Shawn and Little Richie.  “There will be special appearances by George Nooks while Lady G, Macka Diamond and Chuck Fendah will be working early to go to GT Taylor’s Xtravaganza in St. Elizabeth. Sons of Spoon artiste Influential of Road Hog fame will also be doing his thing in the young artiste segment,” Spoon said.   Gates open at 5 and showtime is at 8 p.m.  “Patrons can come out early to enjoy themselves, it will be a day that people in Crofts Hill are going to remember for a long time to come,” Spoon said.   One can reach Crofts Hill by turning left at the Shell gas station in Ewarton and heading up the hill, or taking the route that takes you through Kitson Town and Luidas Vale.

Clumzy Dapps dead!

One876 sends it condolences to the friends and relatives of deejay ‘Clumzy Dapsie Dapps’, formerly of the Innocent Kru, who died at the Kingston Public Hospital after a stabbing incident on Sunday.   The deejay, whose real name is Courtney Morris, was stabbed after a domestic dispute with a man called Jimmy Duffus, the cousin of the deejay’s babymother.  “What happened was that Clumzy’s babymother and sister had allegedly chopped up Clumzy’s girlfriend and Clumzy went to ask her about that. He and his babymother, Tamara Duffus, got into an argument and the cousin intervened and stabbed Clumzy,” a source said.  “The man is now on the run, and it is unfortunate because he was supposed to carry his two kids to the US Embassy today to get their visas and now him dead and his babymother disappear too.”  The Innocent Kru is known for the classic dancehall hit, Impossible Train and Wooga Wooga.  You can see pictures of Clumzy Dapps at  www.myspace.com/innocentkrumusic

Vybz Kartel, Busy, Coco T for Sav Impact

The town of Savanna-la-mar will come alive on Thursday the 1st of January 2009 with the first ever staging of Sav Impact. This event will be held at the Llandilo Cultural Centre in Savanna-la-mar, Westmoreland. It will feature a star studded line-up with the likes of Vybz Kartel, Busy Signal, Lady Saw, Coco Tea, Queen Ifrica, Etana, Bugle, Macka Diamond & Stevie Face. Also on the bill are several talented up-coming acts such as Timmi Burrell, MBC (Make Boyz Cry), Ras Slick, Vengeance & Gransonn.  Backing bands will be the Ninja Force band & the Impact band, music will be provided by DJ Peck of LINKZ FM & DJ No Doubt of VYBZ FM, MC duties will be handled by ZJ Sparks of Zip FM & Ron Muschette of IRIE FM. There will also be lots of prizes and surprises in the big raffle at the event. General Admission will be $1000 & VIP $1500.
