The First Lady aka D’Angel’s clothing store located in the famous Princeville Plaza was broke into by three armed men early this morning who took off with cash, clothes, handbags, shoes, accessories and other items that valued over $400,000.

OutAroad.com gets to understand that the men entered the store about 10:30 a.m. - they immediately advanced towards the clerk, tied her up before she could get a chance to press the security buzzer.

D’Angel told OutAroad.com, “Right now I am so happy that my clerk came through this ordeal safely, I can imagine how terrified she felt as I have been through this situation a few years back. But from God is with you no weapon that rise against you shall prosper.”

The matter was reported to the Constant Spring Police Station.

Fyah Muma’, Queen Ifrica sets Tortola ablaze!

The ‘fyah muma’, Queen Ifrica, recently returned from a blazing hot performance at the BVI Music festival, held at the Cane Garden Bay Beach in Tortola, British Virgin Islands, last week.

There, the female sing-jay delivered a healthy dose of her popular songs, as she performed favourites from her upcoming ‘Montego Bay’ album, like Coconut Shell, Lioness On The Rise, Daddy (original version) and Daddy (in Spanish), which earned her the biggest forward for the night.

Queen Ifrica, who had entered the stage at 11pm, paused during her fiery set and asked the audience if she could sing in Spanish, the response, a resounding “yes”! She started the first verse and it was pulled up at least five times, as screams went on for at least a minute.

Keep It To Yourself was her final tune and the audience sang as Queen Ifrica left the stage. Despite their cry for more, the time just didn’t permit.

Serani Breaks Records!!

seraninogmaesdancehallartistesjamaica.jpgAlliance star Serani’s bonafide hit “No Games” has landed at the #1 spot on America’s reggae iTunes Chart for the first time, knocking Bob Marley’s timeless classic “Three Little Birds” off the top spot. Having been selling thousands of downloads and ringtones for months, No Games has been flirting with the #1 spot for sometime, but now replaces Bob Marley’s anthem, that sells an average of 5,500 a week in downloads on iTunes.

“No Games is actually still gaining in spins across the country,” said Serani’s manager. “This record just won’t go away. Its still getting added to playlists in many states across the country every week so it continues to spread.”

Kartel’s entourage disrupts Junior reid’s birthday bash

Veteran artiste Junior ‘One Blood’ Reid was having a perfect birthday celebration, but that quickly came to an end when members of Vybz Kartel’s entourage were involved in an altercation with police personnel managing the stage area.

The event, which was held last Saturday night at the Sugar Man’s beach club in Hellshire, St Catherine, saw a sizeable crowd turnout and some magnificent performances - among them, Sizzla, Capleton and Cocoa Tea.

However, the show came to a premature end when men from Kartel’s entourage attempted to force their way onstage while he (Kartel) was performing. They were blocked by the lawmen, who then demanded that the stage area be cleared.

The men reportedly refused to comply, leading to an open confrontation. As soon as Kartel was alerted as to what was happening, he dropped the microphone and left immediately.

The ‘ruption’ caused patrons to panic, while others voiced their disgust. Junior Reid attempted to calm things down, but it wasn’t enough, as the patrons began to make their way out of the venue, this around five o’ clock in the morning.

When contacted, a police corporal who was said to be involved in the incident disclosed his version of what took place.

“It’s just bad entertainers. Him (Kartel) had an entourage of about 30 men. The police that were there working told them not to enter the stage,” the policeman told THE STAR.

bomb-rush the stage

Although the scene appeared to be very frantic, the corporal said that no physical contact took place. “No one was physically abused. If you can get a video clipping, you will see. They just wanted to bomb-rush the stage, so the police decided to lock it off,” added the police corporal.

Earlier, the best part of the show started from the appearance of long-time sound-system selector Sky Juice, who jumped and pranced onstage while entertaining the crowd during a very energetic set.

That made way for incredible performances from the ever-blazing Capleton, Sizzla and man of the moment, Junior Reid.

Onstage, the men stood as giants and one by one, they made the patrons feel that their money was well spent. Sizzla, who had a hit song on every rhythm possible, commented, “Me nuh deh a Sugar Man beach, a Rasta man beach me deh,” as he delivered a few of his older hits.

Capleton was no less productive, and with the crowd loving his high energy, he mastered his time on-stage with Free Up and Jah Jah City. Junior Reid impressively ended the onslaught with One Blood.

D’Angel, who was seen backstage engaged in a conversation with Beenie Man, had the crowd going wild during her performance. The singer grabbed the attention of the audience, giving them the First Lady treat, before doing Stronger.

Young bloods, Andrew and Wada, combined well in their set, as the crowd could not keep still.

Bascom X, in his hometown, made an efficient contribution before making way for fast-rising artiste Ras Penko and Fyahkin, while I Octane did not disappoint.

Soca Giants Take Over Six Flags Park

Six Flags Inc., the world’s largest regional theme park company, and Caribbean arts- and education-based non-profit CCB International, are celebrating the sights, sounds, and tastes of the Caribbean by launching the Caribbean Summer Concert Series on June 20th in honor of Caribbean-American Heritage Month.

Featuring the best in Caribbean music with live performances by Trinidad and Tobago’s quadruple-crown monarch Fayann Lyons, ‘Soca Queen’ Alison Hinds, Billboard topping Soca artist Kevin Lyttle, the Soca ‘Fire Man” Bunji Garlin, Internationally recognized Soca star Rupee, legendary Iwer George, Burning Flames, Blaxx and Pumpa, both Six Flags Over Georgia in Austell, GA and Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, NJ are hosting carnival-styled island ‘daycations’ complete with authentic Caribbean cuisine, and arts and crafts.

“Caribbean culture, particularly Caribbean music, has made a lasting impact on American pop-culture,” states CCB Int’l Director of Operations Hector Carter. “When you have music icons like Willie Nelson, Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton, R. Kelly, and Snoop Dogg experimenting with Caribbean rhythms and singing Caribbean songs, there is no question that Caribbean culture has had a major influence on pop music.”

Introduced by U.S. Congresswoman Barbara Lee, the bill designating June as Caribbean-American Heritage Month was passed by the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate, and signed by President George W. Bush in 2006. This year, the White House has issued a proclamation reaffirming June as Caribbean-American Heritage Month.

“Americans of Caribbean ancestry have made countless contributions to this country’s history and culture,” states Congresswoman Barbara Lee. “From the political activism of Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm, to the prolific acting of Sidney Poitier, to the sweet sounds of Celia Cruz, people of Caribbean descent have enriched the heritage of the United States through the arts, education, business, sports, military and government. Throughout the month of June, I encourage all Americans to celebrate and learn more about the rich history of Caribbean-Americans in the United States.”

“Six Flags is a cornerstone in American recreation and amusement. It is an honor to partner with America’s favorite theme parks in celebration of Caribbean-American Heritage Month,” state Carter. “We welcome all ages, races, ethnicities, and cultures to join us on an exciting fun-filled Caribbean ‘day-cation’ with mouth-watering food, sights, arts and crafts, and of course high energy, non-stop rhythm-driven Caribbean music.”
