Miami, FL - January 7th, 2010 - As a brand new decade begins, it’s time to bid farewell to one of the 90s most memorable Dancehall anthems . . . “Tight Up Skirt”. It’s definitely time FI DI NEW YEAR, and for DOUBLE R to emerge.
“OH NO” is one of the most recognizable catch phrases in Dancehall. Soon as you here the intro, even a whole decade after their debuts, “Dwayne” “Shelly Ann” and especially “Tight Up Skirt” still get forwards today.
That was the calling sound of Red Rat, the up-beat, comical DJ in plaits and those infamous red overalls. So as we transition into the new year, the new decade, we bring forth Double R. Talented as ever, his energetic flow has matured, and he is ready to take his place as a Dancehall staple.

Somewhere in Dub Plate Heaven, Squingy is smiling. Bass Odyssey claimed the Guiness Sounds of Greatness title last night with a brilliant performance in front of thousands of cheering fans. The Mas Camp venue was packed and at one time, the police was forced to stop anymore patrons from entering. The selectors must have felt great to win one for Squingy, the legendary late selector who willed the sound to several sound clash victories all over the world.
Entering the music business and filming a music video for her first single “Hide Away” and going on an eleven-city tour of the U.S.A as well as performing in Canada and a number of major stage shows and charity events locally through-out that year was enough to convince her that she had made the right decision to pursue a career in music.
Much of the next 18 months had her in Studios working with a number of Top Producers in Jamaica to realize her debut album titled ‘MY WORLD’. This album boasted 15 tracks including two collaborations, one each with Beenie Man and Vybz Kartel; it represented various genres of Reggae music and captured the essence, journey and versatility of the artiste. “MY WORLD” was released in Japan by Pony Canyon Int., on September 20th, 2006.
The next 12 months had several visits to Japan doing the ‘My World’ album promotional tours, radio interviews, performances and photo shoots for magazines in the cities of Tokyo, Osaka and Okinawa while filming three (3) music videos in Jamaica. Two videos were shot in the first quarter of 2007 for “STEP UP” which is the lead single on the album and “We’re Missing You” (The Tribute) which was recorded after the album was released, the third and final video “Secret Admirer” was shot in the last quarter of 2007.
Her video “We’re missing you” was on the MTV’s Tempo Cross Caribbean Countdown Top 10 Video chart for 13 weeks and peaked at the # 2 position for 5 weeks, it was also nominated by The Reggae Academy Awards with 3 other videos for the Best Video for 2007 in the Reggae category.
2008 started out as planned with a lot of studio work and the release of 12 new singles during the course of that year.
2009 was a year of Performances, recording more Singles, breaking into new areas (video and record production), filming two music videos and working with Producers that she has not worked with before. Two photo shoots were done during the course of the year, the first one was for new photos to update her ‘MySpace’, Website and EPK (electronic press kit), and the second was for the Cover of the BUZZ Magazine ‘SUMMER SWIM SUIT’ issue.
Kris Kelli’s new video for the Hit Single ‘Kotch Aroun’ was conceptualized and Directed by her, it was shot in five (5) locations in and around Kingston, Jamaica. The song Kotch Aroun was nominated by the MP3 Awards in the Reggae category and the video is nominated by Carivibez TV in the category of BEST FEMALE VIDEO for 2009. This video was No. 1 on RE TV for five consecutive (5) weeks and No. 1 on Carivibez TV for seven consecutive (7) weeks; it can be viewed on all the local channels in Jamaica as well as Tempo and BETJ and more.
2010 is shaping up to be the break-out year for Kris Kelli.
BURRO BANTON
Burro Banton, born 1960 in Western Kingston, Jamaica, was influenced by deejays such as Dillinger, U Brown and Ranking Trevor. He made his stage debut as a deejay in 1976 at a talent contest, but startedhis career in earnest on the “Roots Unlimited” sound system alongside Josey Wales. Then he became the resident deejay for Gemini Sound, before he started to work for Junjo Lawes’ Volcano sound system. He went into the studio with this successful dancehall producer and recorded his debut album “Burro”. In the early nineties he moved to New York where he teamed up with Massive B producer Bobby Konders. This led to the release of the album “Da Original Banton” in 1995.
JIMMY REID
Jamaican born and raised Jimmy Reid emerged on the reggae music scene in 1974, with his first single, ‘Time Will Tell’. Since then, he has been entertaining, inspiring, and garnering high praise for his smooth, soulful ballads, including his latest hit singles, ‘African Beauty,’ and ‘The Air That I Breathe which are currently receiving much enthusiasm and fanfare over the airwaves. Since the onset of his professional singing career, Jimmy Reid has released four albums, was nominated for the Reggae category in the 2001 JUNO Awards, and has been nominated at the Canadian Reggae Music Awards over twenty times. Multi award winning Jimmy Reid has Earned the title of Best Male Reggae Single 1985 and Best Male Reggae Singer in 1986, 1998 and 2004, Best Reggae Performer in 1989, the Canadian Award of Merit in 1996, Best Reggae CD/Album of the Year in 2001, and Top Reggae Single, again in 2004.
Along with Jimmy’s award winning voice, this true veteran to the reggae industry, brings his passion to his art and his heart breaking smile that lights up an auditorium to every sold out show he performs at. Jimmy Reid is currently working on his fifth album, set to be released later in 2010.
